According to the insight of Urban Dictionary, "salty," when used as a slang term, can be used to describe someone who is "angry, agitated, or upset," as well as someone who is "mean, annoying, and repulsive."
At La Palmera Spa we like to have fun and I personally enjoy feeling at peace on the regular. I must confess that it takes work because being salty seems to come faster. They say that it takes less energy to smile than to frown, but I think somebody's lying just to make us feel like shit for being angry.
There are so many things trying to get our attention that sometimes shouting on the inside is the fastest way to shut the world down around us. We all know that good diets, exercise, happiness, and wellness are the secrets to a long life and good relationships.
We also know that there's usually too much on our damn plate to enjoy the fruit of our hard work. So the challenge of not feeling like shit, feeling less salty, and in gratitude is a great place to put our effort right? Yeah right. However, as we developed from folks who were literally being hunted by saber tooth tigers and had to be on guard all of the time, it's not so easy for us yet to go straight to positive thinking.
I must admit, sometimes, I could tell the gurus who say "to be wealthy you must be grateful" to shove it.
What I have since learned in my deep and extensive work in Stress Management and human services is that humans will always want more. That's our mission right? You are damn right, we are never satisfied because we are wired with a deep desire to want.
Don't kill that desire. God put that there. Honor that want andddd the part about gratitude that they didn't clear up is that along your journey everything is for your good. Everything is serving a purpose, even the "salt". So honor those feelings and just don't stay there.
Being lesssalty is a lot more fun and a better feeling. We know that the outside world is a lot of negativity, struggle, and pain (physical and emotional). So take an hour out of your week and tell the world, "bye Felicia" I need to get some #goodvibes and #lesssaltylife.
